Faith

The cornerstone for all that we believe and all that we do is centered in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is teaching early childhood, and there is teaching faith, and we can not do one without the other. Jesus is a part of everything we do in our classroom. Talking about Jesus can and does occur at anytime, not just during Jesus Time. Not only do we learn about different Bible stories, but we also sing Jesus songs, talk about His love for us (including His death and resurrection), and pray throughout the day. In prayer, the children learn that they can talk to God anytime they want to. (it is not limited to only mealtime and bedtime), and that they can talk to God about anything they are thinking about.

Respect

One of the most important things that any child should possess, along with their faith in the Lord, is respect. Respect for their families, respect for authority figures, respect for people in their community, and respect for their classmates and friends. Every adult is a model to children in how to treat others. At preschool, we will show the children through our words and actions the importance of respecting other people.

Play, Play, Play!

Want to know the best way your child learns? Through playing! The centers in the classroom (art, music, reading, etc.) are set up in such a way to foster and encourage each child’s individual learning, as well as learning as a class. In play, children experiment with trial and error, mimic real life situations, are exposed to letters, numbers, colors, and shapes, and learn how to get along with others. That is why we have plenty of time for free choice time…to give the children a chance to play and learn!

Age Appropriateness

Each child learns in a different way and possesses strengths and weaknesses, just like the rest of us. In our classroom, these differences are celebrated. We will be observing and assessing each child throughout the school year, and will be planning the daily activities around what is appropriate for where they are in their development. Every child’s learning ability will be nurtured and encouraged to reach that next level.
